where is my data stored?
Everything stays on your device. Syntax doesn't have servers or cloud sync. Your workout files are plain text stored in the app's local directory.
do I need an AI API key?
No. The AI coach is completely optional. The app works fully without it. If you want AI features, you bring your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google.
can I export my workouts?
Yes. Your workouts are plain markdown files. You can access them via the Files app when file sharing is enabled.
does it work with Apple Watch?
Syntax reads workout and heart rate data from Apple Health, which includes data from your Apple Watch. There's no standalone Watch app yet.
